Ballet Shoes

I really enjoyed drawing with motion. A few changes I would make would be to make it less white. The flooring looks to be the same color as the motion feet, I wish it was a little darker. I also wish I would have made the second foot motion (the one pointed to the ground) a little darker than the first leg motion. For some reason the pink in the picture is not as pink as the actual drawing is, that is the other thing I would change. I am very proud of myself for being able to draw this. I just showed it to my dance teacher and she loves it. I'm scared to see what my ballet teacher will think, he is hard to please but maybe he will like this as well.

  1. I really like how you made the shoe that doesn't move pink and not the shoe that moves. It makes the stoic leg really stand out

  2. Stoic? Nice, Audrey. I've given you enough compliments on this I believe-- perhaps enough to get me in trouble with the others.

  4. I really liked how it turned out. Shows the motion and the colors and gradients all fit very well. To me the only thing is that the background seems a bit empty but that a personal opinion.

  5. After the comment from Brandt I feel dumb saying I wish the color was more prominent...other than that this is really amazing piece!

  6. I do think the color should be slightly more prominent but otherwise I love this! Everything is balanced and the mood is very whimsical.

  7. I like the way your erased lines look, and how the lines that overlapped with permeant ones were erased.

  8. I think it looks really good how the lighter lines in this piece really show the movement that is portrayed. But i think the shadow stand out more to show that light is shining in. I like how the light pink on the left foot makes the eyes rest on the main subject with out being to bold about where you should look i think you did a great job on this project.

  9. Great comments by all! Meredith, fair enough. I do think that you did a great job of choosing subject matter that reflected you as an individual. The light, thin lines dance elegantly around the pink shape in the middle. Above all, I like how you persisted through problems, got frustrated, and then got through it to create something that surprised yourself. Because I can't leave a string of compliments ungrounded, I do think that some anatomical studies of the calf and foot would have helped. Very impressive first piece.

  10. It should also be documented that I said, "This is the beginning of a masterpiece... I can feel it." Is that an accurate quote?
