My Wish

Movement with charcoal was my favorite lesson. For the independent project, I wanted to do movement again but I didn't know exactly what to do for it. My inspiration came when I was thinking back and how I let people control me. I felt like a marionette because other people could pull my stings to make me do certain things. I know marionettes are french and it would be easy for them to move in the drawing. From the encaustic project I loved the writing so I decided to use that in this drawing. In english, the words mean "My wish is to be as free as a butterfly." I feel like that quote goes well with the idea of being controlled and wanting to be free. I like this drawing a lot, but I wish the biggest butterfly (first movement) would have been darker or had the wood showing through because I do not like how white it looks.

Dans mes rêves...

For the encaustic collage project, I used an old book as the first layer, then I used pictures I took last spring break in Paris. Wax was not my favorite to use, I could not get the wax to do what I wanted it to do. Which made me decide to use the simple flag colors so that I could incorporate France more. The words in english mean "In my dreams you do not exist". I chose the words because my dream was to go to Paris. Last year I learned to say that and it became my favorite saying, then this year I heard the words in a French song that I like, which gives it more of a meaning. The words are written in india ink, covered by a layer of wax and then white oil pastel was added. This was not one of my favorite projects, but I do like how it turned out.

Nutella

I think this painting looks ten times better in person.

things i would change- the white of the plate in the back blends into the back ground. The Nutella jar label is not as good as it started off, before I added the name. The one main thing i learned from this project was to never make a pile of anything chocolate, it turns out looking like crap, literally.

This is not one of my favorite projects that i have done. I wish i would have worked a little more on it.

Cheers to that.

For this project we did the image transfer. At first I did a picture of Sacre-Coeur but it started looking pretty bad. I decided to find a new picture I took while in Paris and I wanted a focal point. I like how this picture turned out compared to the first one. I wish i could change the stripes on the table. The darkest stripe looks really bad compared to the others.

I put this into the Fall into the Arts show at school and I thought it would break, with my luck. I was right, it did break. I wish i could have gotten a picture of it before it broke.

With the broken picture I might try to break it more and rearrange it. I don't know how that will turn out so I might not do it.

Page 42

I did not like this lesson at first. I guess i just wasn't inspired by my original book pages that were on the board. After i got the pink down on the board i did start to like it more. I would go back and change the blue hat somewhat shows through. I also wish i made a regular oval for the pendant. I made it the shape of the girls face to mirror it but i think it just looks like i couldnt make an oval. I like how the picture on the bottom looks so thats the only reason i put it up.

Ballet Shoes

I really enjoyed drawing with motion. A few changes I would make would be to make it less white. The flooring looks to be the same color as the motion feet, I wish it was a little darker. I also wish I would have made the second foot motion (the one pointed to the ground) a little darker than the first leg motion. For some reason the pink in the picture is not as pink as the actual drawing is, that is the other thing I would change. I am very proud of myself for being able to draw this. I just showed it to my dance teacher and she loves it. I'm scared to see what my ballet teacher will think, he is hard to please but maybe he will like this as well.

My Charcoal on Matt Board

I have mixed feelings about this drawing. I love the flower in the glass jar, yet i do not like the glass. I wish I would have had more time to add detail to the table and make the glass of the bottle and the glass of the jar look more like glass.
