My Wish

Movement with charcoal was my favorite lesson. For the independent project, I wanted to do movement again but I didn't know exactly what to do for it. My inspiration came when I was thinking back and how I let people control me. I felt like a marionette because other people could pull my stings to make me do certain things. I know marionettes are french and it would be easy for them to move in the drawing. From the encaustic project I loved the writing so I decided to use that in this drawing. In english, the words mean "My wish is to be as free as a butterfly." I feel like that quote goes well with the idea of being controlled and wanting to be free. I like this drawing a lot, but I wish the biggest butterfly (first movement) would have been darker or had the wood showing through because I do not like how white it looks.

  1. The texture of the wood and the font is amazing. There is such a peaceful movement to the piece.

  3. I think this looks really good I was just curios why the butterfly at the bottom is white? Also, I was wondering why there was no cast shadow on the lady?
